COSTS TO THE RATEPAYERS

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The openly stated view of Launceston City Council has been that they don't care how much it costs to make this scandal go away, rather than backing down and admitting wrong-doing. The costs to date have been conservatively estimated at over $280,000. Now that the federal and state investigations are underway and as the legal battle heats up, these costs are likely to rise quickly if not multiplicatively.

Council's actions against me and Patrick Filmer-Sankey are expensive to the Ratepayers. As Mr Dobrzynski's lawyer (Chris Dockray) indicated to my lawyer (Slater & Gordon), they didn't care what it cost, they just weren't willing to reinstate me. From the estimated costs so far (see below), it appears that they indeed don't care. However, the Ratepayers may.

Note that these are not final costs, but rather, they might be thought of as "the downpayment" to what is just now getting some traction. Federal and state investigative bodies are now involved. National media have been asking questions. I have a good lawyer. I plan to fight aggressively to clear my good name and receive compensation for the vindictive and debilitating actions that the Council has wilfully taken against my health and career, to the fullest extent that federal, state, and commonlaw legislation allows. None of this will be inexpensive.

The costs below are taken from the website of Mr Filmer-Sankey, my supervisor who was sacked on the basis of my wrong-doing, which I have now been cleared of, but was fired anyway. I believe that Mr Filmer-Sankey has estimated conservatively, but that they are pretty close, if not precisely spot on. I provide these here in hopes that Citizens of Launceston may take an interest in where their Rates are going, and what sorts of checks and balances are in place on the efficacy of these decisions.

I have heard that neither Robert Dobrzynski nor Mayor Albert van Zetten are residents of the Launceston municipality. If this is true, it is no small irony that it is neither their own money nor their Rates dollars that they are spending in such a carefree manner.
